Since FNW is a part of E-Fortress this year FNW started in the evening hours of the E-FORTRESS festival. The first day 3rd of September was the day of the FNW grand opening with many respected artists, filmmakers and actors. The film which opened the festival was “Metamorphoses” a fiction film from Macedonia by the director Aleksandar Popovski, the main actor Sergej Trifunovic - a well known Serbian actor, and music by Kiril Dzajkovski. There were approximately 500 people on the first night of the festival.

Jury members that arrived as guest on the second day were Janko Medjedovic and Marko Popovic. The guests of the festival for the second day was also a Illusion creative team production from Novi Pazar, Serbia and their first film Twenty that they made for the competitive program of the FNW festival. We also had a retrospective of the Serbian Fantastic Film Festival on the second night of the FNW with films: 1. Ubica sa maskom (fiction) Director: Nebojsa Nenadic, Serbia – 5 min. 2. Veš (fiction) Director: Dunja Foljan, Serbia – 6 min. 3. Casovnik (fiction) Director: Igor Stanojevic – 7 min. 4. Zvezda tri (fiction) Director: Nebojsa Nenadic – 14 min Serbian Fantastic film festival is the best and the most known fantastic horror film festival in Serbia who became this year a guest partner of the FNW film festival.

The final day of the festival opened the film, of the well known biology researcher of Stara Mountain in Serbia and known filmmaker, “Jos samo tren” (documentary) by Vladimir Manic. Vladimir is a successful photographer and a filmmaker and a director of few documentary films with ethno and ecology subjects. He completely devoted himself to researching and recording the Stara Mountain. His films that are most famous are “Visok”, “Kad zvona utihnu” and “Jos samo jedan tren”. Because of the bad weather conditions final day was held in NKC (Nis cultural centre) with 300 visitors, representatives of the cultural and public life, and that final night of the festival was recorded all the significant representatives of the media. The guest of the festival for the final night was the director of the documentary film Trifun Bombas Sladjan Stojanovic which was in the selection of the FNW 09. Members of the jury Barbara Tolevska and Janko Medjedovic announced the winners and closed this years FreeNetWorld festival. FNW international film festival this year had additional program: workshops during the day and music program at night. There were two workshops planed for this year: Hercules short film workshop and Celtx pre-production workshop.

The festival jury was selected by the team of the organizers of the festival but the audience had the opportunity to select two jury members, this action was called “Select your jury”. People that were selected by the audience were Bojan Ilic Bokerini and Vladan Petkovic. FNW had 9 people in the jury: Dejana Milovic Buha, Vladan Petkovic, Maja Uzelac, Bojan Ilic Bokerini, Barbara Tolevska, Igor Jovanovic, Milena Bogavac, Marko Popovic and Janko Medjedovic. • Dejana Milovic Buha: Editor of the music program on B92 TV. She works on B92 TV and radio since 1989. You can recognize her voice in a number of ads in Serbia. She is a graduate of law, specialized in advertizing. • Vladan Petkovic: Graduate Management in Culture, Theater and Radio at the Belgrade Faculty of Drama Arts. Reporter for the Former Yugoslavia in Screen International, , majoring in management in the production and culture. He has been participant of numerous international festival juries. • Maja Uzelac: Graduated as film and TV director, author of cult show "Cultural knockout”. She is currently working as a PR of the creative department of McCannErickson. • Bojan Ilic Bokerini: Poet (beatnik) known for unusual poetic performances, author of two collections of poems "monolith in hayrick" and "monolith in hayrick 2", film critic. • Barbara Tolevska: Graduate manager of culture and art, organizer in the National Drama Theater in Belgrade, the owner and executive producer of Artikulture, producer of documentary films, the author of several books. • Igor Jovanovic: Graduated in graphic design, author of numerous short films and music videos, winner of several awards and recognitions, a member of the group of designers "Loshi Pixel. • Milena Bogavac: Graduate in playwright at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts. She is the founder cornerman of “Drama Mental Studio," columnist of the "evening news", and associate of BITEF. With his sister Jelena, she is the author of the famous blog on B92 VIP blog”Bogavac Sisters”. • Marko Popovic: Graduate as a Film and TV director, directed over 500 shows on the RTS and on TV B92. He is the director of many documentary TV series and documentaries. He received many awards at international documentary film festivals, selector for the "Free Zone" film festival. • Janko Medjedovic: Graduated psychologist, member of many NGO's, author of many short films, a film critic.
This jury had tough decisions to make and we presented to them a new way of work. The jury performed their tasks only through the Internet, through a video portal, which was in a closed group and there they were able to see all the movies and to evaluate them. The audience also had the chance to choose the best movie which got the special audience award.
